I was making a lot of money.
Victoria Schneider has worked the streets of the Bay Area for many years. As we sat with her on a hilly street in San Francisco, she described to us how she orginally got on the game.
"I used to work in theater-- dancing and designing sets. I was making a lot of money. The production I was working on at the time was being funded by this woman who hated me. So, she fired me. On my way out, I took all the work I had done for her, so she had to pay someone to start all over again.
"I had bills to pay.
So I hit the streets and went to work."
